The publication entitled ”Demographic situation of Wielkopolskie Voivodship in 2021” appears in the series Statistical analyses for the second time. In terms of its scope, structure and form of presentation, the study continues the format of the previous edition. The major part of the review consists of the analytical commentary which covers a variety of demographic issues such as the current population and its distribution in the voivodship, basic population structures, the aging process, vital statistics, migration and demographic dynamics. The study was enriched by maps and charts illustrating of the various phenomena and trends. A summary of the most important demographic data is provided in the tabular part of the study in Excel format.

The Statistical Office in Poznań has prepared the newest edition of the “Statistical Yearbook of Wielkopolskie Voivodship”. As always, the yearbook presents a description of the socio-economic situation of the region using tabular and graphically represented data for 2021, which are compared with information for previous years in order to highlight trends happening over a longer period.

The Statistical Office presents the latest edition of the “Statistical Yearbook of the Wielkopolskie Voivodship” – one of the most important titles in the annual publication plan. It is the 22nd edition of the yearbook since the creation of the voivodship in its present form. The current edition is a quantitative summary of changes observed in various areas of the socio-economic sphere in 2020. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic and resulting restrictions affecting social life and economic activity, it was a difficult year marked by a considerable slowdown affecting many processes that had been developing dynamically. Effects of the pandemic can be observed in the statistics related to various thematic areas presented in the Yearbook.

The Statistical Office in Poznań presents the latest edition of the “Statistical Yearbook of Poznań 2021”, which has been published in a two-year cycle since 1999 although the beginnings of the series go back to 1921. The yearbook contains a vast store of information describing social, demographic and economic phenomena occurring in the city, which provide an up-to-date picture of the capital city of Wielkopolskie Voivodship. Statistical information presented in the current edition of the Yearbook refers to the period 2019–2020. In most tables the reference period is extended to include data for milestone years, i.e. 2010 and 2015. The time range of overview tables extends to the year 2000.

The beginnings of the Statistical Yearbook of Poznań go back to the 1920s. The series, which was interrupted by the outbreak of the Second World War, was resumed only in 1960. In the following decades, the Yearbook appeared with varying frequency. Since 1999, it has been published in a two-year cycle. Each edition provides an up-to-date picture of the city, described in the terms of indicators and figures that characterise social, demographic and economic phenomena taking place in the capital of Wielkopolskie Voivodship.

The current edition of the Statistical Yearbook of Wielkopolskie Voivodship is the twentieth publication in this series, providing a statistical description of the voivodship in its current administrative division in effect since 1999. The yearbook offers a summary of survey results and changes observed in different areas of social life and the economy in 2018. Like in the earlier editions, the latest results are compared with data for previous years. This adds a dynamic character to the picture of the voivodship created by the figures and enables the reader to track basic development trends.

The administrative reform implemented in Poland 20 years ago has created a new system of territorial units, with a smaller number of voivodship comprising a greater diversity of component units. It is since then that the Statistical Office in Poznań has published an annual volume providing a multifaceted picture of the current socio-economic situation of gminas and powiats of Wielkopolskie Voivodship, revealing the internal diversity of the voivodship. The current, twentieth edition of ”Wielkopolskie Voivodship. Subregions, Powiats, Gminas” presents data for 2018.
